  • 🌞Gelsemium sempervirens or Carolina Jasmine or Jessamine is a yellow blooming tendriled vine that is native to many southern states from Virginia to Florida and west to Texas.
  • 🍃This unobtrusive small-leaved vine goes largely unnoticed all year until it explodes into bloom in the early spring. Swags of highly fragrant, small, bright yellow, bell-shaped blooms hang through the trees in upland woods and along river banks. It has a natural climbing and cascading habit, so it needs little coaxing to provide quick cover. However, it is a well-behaved, fine-stemmed vine with many versatile uses.
  • 👩‍🌾Care: When mature, plant in well-draining soil in a full sun to partial shade location. Water as needed to maintain soil moisture until well established. Drought-tolerant once mature. Seldom requires fertilizing. Feed a good quality slow-release, general-purpose fertilizer with the initial planting and repeat in spring before blooming if needed. Prune after flowering to control size and shape.
  • 🏡Indoor Growing: While the plant can be grown indoors, and foliage will generally grower larger and more lush in reduced light, modifications to increase light and provide a temperature differential during winter to stimulate flowering are typically required to produce blooms indoors.
  • 🌡Climate: Carolina Jasmine is native to semi-tropical and temperate climates. It grows easily and freely outdoors within USDA Zones 7, 8, 9. Young plants should be heavily mulched in Zone 7, 8 until well established.
