Lavender is one of the most popular and useful essential oils. Derived from the flowers of the aromatic shrub, it is prized for its perfume. A versa-tile component of many , it has been used in perfumery. Grown in the Kashmiri Valley of India, located at the base of the Himalayan mountains, lav-ender from Kashmir is a pale yellow and medium-weight oil that rich, grassy and herbaceous scent. Grown at high altitudes, it is especially high in linalool content. It is also lower in camphor, which makes its aroma sweeter than commonly available Lavender oils in the market. Because of the relatively small growing area, Kashmir lavender is much rarer than other types of lavender essential oil.
